What Balls They Have! GOP claims credit for last years economic growth.

These jerkwads just took possession of the House this month and yet to listen to them tell it, the Party of No can claim THEY are the ones that ‘did it all’ when it comes to last years small but significant economic/job growth. The GOP, who refused to support anything that was put forth in the 111th Congress, except for the Tax Cuts from Hell in the lame duck session in December, have the nads to grab credit for Obama’s hard earned work. Appearing on Fox News’ Happening Now, House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-CA) credited “positive numbers” on the economy to House Republicans’ newly held majority status and their pursuit of “pro-growth policies.” 

 REP. DREIER: The notion that many pundits and people on some of those other cable channels throw out regularly that we want to bring an end to health care for people is just preposterous. We are determined to ensure that with a market-oriented approach we can have the kind of chance for people to have access to insurance and we can get our economy growing. And we’ve gotten some positive numbers. I think it’s in large part because we won our majority and we’re pursuing pro-growth policies. I think we can make it happen.

Dreier didn’t specify which “positive numbers” he’s been looking at, but perhaps it was the January 7th release of BLS’s December 2010 unemployment rate, which at 9.4% was the lowest it’s been since May 2009. Or maybe he’s referring to the addition of over 100,000 private sector jobs in December alone.

It’s hard to understand how Dreier can justify giving the not-yet-implemented policies of the House Republican majority credit for economic growth that occurred when both houses of Congress were dominated by Democrats, but apparently this is a strategy Republicans have decided to embrace. ThinkProgress caught Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) pulling a similar maneuver. Calling the Obama administration “highly anti-business,” Kyl credited the December extension of the Bush tax cuts for private-sector business growth that had occurred in the 11 months prior to the passage of the extension.

One ‘positive number’ you probably won’t find Kyl or Dreier slinging around is the addition of over 1.1 million private sector jobs since health care reform became law.

It’s fucking amazing ain’t it??? These bastards have no friggin shame…they will lie, cheat and evidently..steal. They are Grifters all, and at this point..hell is too good a place for them.

GOP Pledge To America: It’s a joke right?

Also notable is the fact that this 21-page, full of horseshit and not much else, document was put together by a House staffer who, up till April 2010, served as a lobbyist for some of the nation’s most powerful oil, pharmaceutical, and insurance companies, per this CommonDreams.org writeup. From the CommonDreams article:

In a draft version of The Pledge that was being passed around to reporters before the official release, the document properties list “Wild, Brian” as the “Author.” A GOP source said that Wild — who is on House Minority Leader John Boehner’s payroll — did help author the governing platform that the party is unveiling on Thursday. Another aide said that as the executive director of the Republican leadership group American Speaking Out, Wild’s tasks were more on the administrative side of the operations.

Until early this year, Wild was a fairly active lobbyist on behalf of the firm the Nickles Group, the lobbying shop set up by the former Republican Senator from Oklahoma, Don Nickles. During his five years at the firm, Wild, among others, was paid $740,000 in lobbying contracts from AIG, the former insurance company at the heart of the financial collapse; $800,000 from energy giant Andarko Petroleum; more than $1.1 million from Comcast, more than $1.3 million from Exxon Mobil; and $625,000 from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc.

Gee, ain’t that a friggin interesting factoid m’dear reader? And isn’t it ironic that he works for John Boehner, the fake-tan man who probably farts orange and is one of the Deans of Wingnut University aka Nutter U.

“Pledge to America” Not as Fiscally Responsible as It Claims-Core Policies Would Increase the Federal Deficit and Debt

Republicans in Congress released “Pledge to America” today, a plan they characterize as laying out a “new governing agenda.” Integral to that plan is a new commitment to “fiscal responsibility.” Our analysis, however, shows that implementing the plan’s proposals would increase the federal budget deficit and accelerate growth in federal debt.

The “Pledge to America” budget would mean $11.1 trillion in deficits over the next 10 years. By 2020, the federal budget deficit would be 6.3 percent of gross domestic product, the federal debt would exceed 93 percent of GDP, and interest payments on the debt would be more than $1 trillion a year. The budget deficit would be about $200 billion larger in 2020 under the “Pledge to America” plan than it would be under President Barack Obama’s budget, and over the next 10 years deficits would be $1.5 trillion higher than under the president’s budget.

The substantial increase in deficits under the “Pledge to America” budget are due to the significant tax cuts that come from extending all expiring tax provisions and the implementation of several new tax cuts. Altogether, tax revenues under the “Pledge to America” plan would average 16.7 percent of GDP. During the last period the federal government ran balanced budgets revenues averaged 20 percent of GDP.

The CAP article lays out all the bogus bullshit the Rethugs are trying hard to pass off on the American voters. The GOP must really believe we are all as dumb as Sarah Palin.

And of course it contains a repeal of the health care reform act, known as the Affordable Care Act, Obama’s congress passed this year…without an ounce of Rethug support I might add.

She has created “Keep America Safe”, a one-stop extravaganza for all things neocon. From Foreign Policy:

No really, Liz is a heavyweight in the foreign policy area? Who knew? And Billy Kristol, who can’t find his ass with both hands, is also a co-founder? Holy fuckamoly..

Keep America Safe will focus on issues like troop levels, missile defense, detainees, and interrogation, according to Liz Cheney, who is heading the group along with Weekly Standard editor William Kristol and Debra Burlingame, the hawkish sister of an American Airlines pilot killed in the September 11 attacks.

The group, incorporated as a 501 (c ) 4 non-profit, launches its fundraising drive online Tuesday with a web video accusing Obama of failing to back up his “tough talk” and with a website aimed to provide an organizing tool for hawks.

The group’s mechanics are largely a product of former campaign aides to Senator John McCain: Michael Goldfarb, now a Weekly Standard blogger, is an adviser to the group; its executive director is McCain war room chief Aaron Harison, and the video was produced by Justin Germany, the McCain aide who produced a campaign video titled, “The One,” which mocked Obama as a messianic figure.

They are fund-raising..oh goodie! This means they will lie and obfuscate their collective asses off. All for the almighty dollar…well, it used to be almighty. Get ready folks, the spin machine is warming up!

I voted for change, not political correctness

Obama just finished his speechifying for the carpetbaggers on Wall St. I found myself watching the speech and muttering to myself how full of bat guano he was.

He reminds me of all the other enablers in the House and Senate. They refuse to go for the jugular when it comes to important issues, they want all the Senators and House Rep’s to join in a kumbaya moment.

That ain’t gonna happen. The Blue Dogs have their own agenda and the Rethugs definitely have theirs. Neither of those two groups want to be seen agreeing with or supporting the Obama administration’s agenda.

How will anything get done without the support of the Blue Dogs? Short answer: Nothing will.

Yet The Big O and his administration are still pandering to both groups.

Where is Lyndon Johnson when you need him? Johnson was able to push through massive social programs and civil rights bills that virtually no one south of the Mason-Dixon line ever wanted to see enacted.

Now, before anyone gets their panties in a wad, I realize LBJ wasn’t an angel. He approved the wiretapping of MLK, and his Vietnam War build-up among other things, keep me from suggesting sainthood for him. His years in congress helped him craft all the alliances he needed to push through his Great Society.

Evidently Obama doesn’t have any such alliances.

So what does Obama have that will enable him to make all the changes he promised during the campaign?

That isn’t a rhetorical question..I really don’t know what Obama has or doesn’t have regarding political capital.

I just see him as another lame-ass politician that talks a good game but when it comes to actually doing anything major…he is lost in the wilderness of DC. He might be as pissed off as I am regarding the lack of balls our Congress critters seem to have. But he doesn’t seem to be doing anything about these ball-less fuckers.

And that frustrates the shit out of me.
