CIA agrees to play nice regarding Torture Tapes

Sure, and if you really buy that they will tell the House Intel committee all about the destruction of the Torture Tapes..I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ya.

But the CIA’s top lawyer, John A. Rizzo, will “testify about the matter, Congressional and intelligence officials said Wednesday” according to the NYT article linked above.

However, no one said anything about whether the chief of the agency’s “clandestine service”, Jose Rodriguez, who actually ordered the tapes destroyed in 2005, will sit down and chat about the incident with folks on the hill. So what exactly will anyone learn if he doesn’t talk?

Not much is my guess. See, it seems if Jose talks, then all hell would break loose and, according to the write-up, “might involve complex negotiations over legal immunity at a time when the Justice Department and the intelligence agency were reviewing whether the destruction of the tapes broke any laws.

Don’t forget, this is all lip service until the little set-to begins tomorrow in Judge Kennedy’s courtroom at 11am over the destruction of said tapes, which totally ignored an earlier ruling by Judge Kennedy to protect all evidence of torture.

Ah, as Sir Walter Scott once said: What a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive…
