CREW goes after DOJ on Delay case. Files FOIA request.

Those wonderful folks at CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) have filed an FOIA request (Freedom of Information Act) with the jackholes at the DOJ demanding the doc’s to find out exactly why those fuckwits refused to prosecute one of the biggest, most corrupt former members of Congress…Tommy ‘hottub’ Delay. One would think Obama’s hue and cry about transparency would make this request a no-brainer. From CREW’s website:

Why did disgraced former Congressman Tom DeLay (R-TX) never face federal prosecution? The public has a right to know, but the Department of Justice isn’t telling. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Department of Justice (DOJ) requesting all documents and communications related to the five year investigation into the former Texas lawmaker and his associates. Mr. DeLay is slated to face state charges in Texas later this month; as a result, CREW asked DOJ to expedite a response to the request.

“One of the most corrupt members to ever walk the halls of Congress will never have to answer for operating the House like a pay-to-play casino. The American people deserve to know what evidence the Department of Justice collected on Mr. DeLay and why that evidence was not sufficient to charge him,” said Melanie Sloan, CREW Executive Director. “The Department of Justice has not made prosecuting crooked government officials a top priority. The Public Integrity Section lacks the staff and resources necessary to prosecute even some of Washington’s demonstrably most unscrupulous leaders.  The Obama administration must ensure this section has resources it needs to do its job properly. After all, if Tom DeLay can get away with brazenly selling legislative assistance to Jack Abramoff, who knows what other scheming self-interested members of Congress might try?”

I don’t know about you folks, but I am friggin dying to know why Eric Holder and company refused to prosecute this corrupt bag of batshit.

The 26 most corrupt members of Congress.

From CREW (Citizens for Responsiblity and Ethics in Washington), we get their list of the 26 biggest, most corrupt elected fuckwads in office:

    * Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)
    * Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO)
    * Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL)
    * Sen. Roland Burris (D-IL)
    * Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA)

    * Sen. David Vitter (R-LA)
    * Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA)
    * Rep. Don Young (R-AK)

There are quite a few D’s on that list, which supports my theory that most elected fuckwits are worthless bags of sheepshit that seek to further their own bank accounts. The majority are from the House of Rep’s. If these fuckers actions don’t scream reform, I don’t know what does. Also check out their sister site, Under Investigation which provides updates on those being investigated…sadly not all the fuckers listed above are. From that site:

CREW has compiled a list of Congress members likely under investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (House ethics committee), the Senate Select Committee on Ethics (Senate ethics committee) or the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). Due to the secrecy surrounding these investigative bodies, the list is compiled from press reports. On October 30, 2009, The Washington Post revealed a leaked House ethics committee memo documenting the investigative activities surrounding House members by the House ethics committee and/or the OCE. The OCE was created in 2008 to review allegations of misconduct against members of the House and refers matters to the House ethics committee for further action. As a result, it is not always clear which body is investigating the Member.

U.S. Representatives

U.S. Senators

It’s always amazing to me how these bags of batshit get re-elected over and over again, even when in the throes of a congressional investigation and/or on trial for corruption. Why would you vote for someone that has questionable practices in the first place? Don’t these voters want good people to represent them, folks who do not have a dark-fucking-cloud hanging over their heads?  WTF does that say about their constituents? I will tell you….either they don’t give a rat’s ass or they are an entire district of ignorant assholes…take your pick.

Remember Randy Duke Cunningham? His worthless ass was re-elected in California’s 50th District, whilst on trial in federal court for kickbacks. The evidence was overwhelming and he pled guilty and did the perp walk into a federal prison. He admitted to taking $2.4 million in bribes mostly from defense contractors in exchange for government business and “other favors”. Most of the folks on these lists, one would think, should of heeded that message. So really, I don’t know who is dumber, the elected fucktards or their voters.

Karzai has competition..and thats a good thing.

The corrupt bastard that runs Afghanistan is getting quite a bit of competition. From Ann Marlowe @ The Daily Beast:

Afghanistan’s democratic opposition—a loosely affiliated but increasingly unified group of former Northern alliance fighters and politicians, Western-educated technocrats, businesspeople and military men—is facing a stalemate in what looks more and more like the Afghan endgame.

Last week, I met with three of the key players: Ahmad Wali Masoud, the former Afghan Ambassador to Britain, and one of the six brothers of the slain Afghan legend Ahmad Shah Massoud; last year’s presidential challenger Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, and deposed internal security chief Amrullah Saleh.

Since then, there have been several significant events in Kabul—not only did we see the unraveling of the Kabul Bank but it was also “Martyr’s Week,” commemorating the dead among the Afghan armed forces, as well as the end to Ramadan.

And events are moving so quickly here—think of the dissolving dreamscapes of Inception—that while Masoud, Abdullah and Saleh were all maintaining some distance on August 31, four days later, I was told, Saleh pledged his loyalty to Abdullah, and the following day, the three made a joint appearance at Kabul Education University.

At a time when the relationship between Karzai and the U.S. administration appears to have strained to a near-breaking point, and words such as “revolution” are suddenly cropping up in conversation, we should pay attention.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Karzai drummed out of office..and then run out of town on a rail or jailed for his crimes against his own people. The bastard and his cabinet are so corrupt it’s obvious and pathetic..and it makes us look like fools since we support his regime and refuse to foster and support opposition parties that really want democracy in Afghanistan. Again from Marlowe’s writeup:

 While the men are very different—Masoud is genial and full of smiles, Abdullah has gravitas, and Saleh is all coruscating brilliance—the three spoke with surprising unanimity about the situation as they saw it, placing the lion’s share of blame for the deteriorating situation on the Americans and their focus on empowering one man, Hamid Karzai, rather than creating a sustainable, robust political system.

“They should have supported the political process and, if that process is legitimate, then the product of that process will be legitimate,” said Dr. Abdullah.

Or as Masoud put it: “The Americans imposed Karzai on Afghanistan, they know best how to change it.”

“Why did they pump billions of dollars into this country through one man, but do not promote political parties?” asked Masoud. “If they’d done that, by now we would have political parties to deal with, not one man.”

Bush knew what he was doing by putting Karzai in power, and I would hazard a guess that Obama is keenly aware of what a bag of batshit Karzai and his government are…so why support them? What is the upside of this fuckery for America and her money and soldiers?

Maddow interviews Blago

The following is Rachel’s take on the entire interview. She discusses the highlights, or lowlights with a former DOJ Prosecutor and whether Blago slipped up and admitted wrong-doing. Remember, Blago’s attorney quit because he refused to keep his piehole shut and drop his national tour of talk shows. The entire interview can be seen here in sections.
