Pitchfork Populism? Pot dispensaries in Kern County again?

Bea Arthur passed on…she was 86 and a great dame, broad, whatever the hell you want to call her except spineless.

This little ditty over at OpenLeft was an eye opener at 6am today. Seems the writer is really pissed off.

Well, so am I, but christ..eating our own seems the wrong way to go about it.

But he makes some great points..among the Dem’s consistently yanked defeat from the jaws of victory. Ain’t that the friggin truth!

So…check it out if you have a strong constitution this Sunday morning.

Emptywheel, always the voice of truth and logic, has a timeline up of BushCo’s march to torture. Heavy stuff for a Sunday, but hit it if you feel up to it. It will probably just make your head spin and ruin the rest of your day..but some of us are gluttons for punishment..ya know? 😉

Last but not fucking a story that starts out about my home county..Kern. Its about medical mj dispensaries and just how prolific they will or will not become now that AG Holder has put the kybosh on raiding them.

I in fact, visited a brand, spanking-new dispensary yesterday. It was run by two women and its three blocks from my humble abode. That I no longer have to drive over the friggin mountain range into Hell-A and back to procure my medicine makes me almost giddy folks. Oh, and fuck you Donnie Youngblood you gigantic prick.

The following graphic is just cuz..cuz I love it! From the inimitable Dark Black of course! 😉 Click for larger!

Happy 4-20!!!!!

Best day of the year! The wonderful graphic is by Dark Black, who also observes this holiday of sorts. 😉 Lazy also loves this day and Bob was so kind to wish me a happy 4-20 in the comments section below.

Obama to keep another campaign promise-No more raids in California by DEA

This bit of news this week had me smiling don’t cha know:

In response to a question at a Wednesday news conference, US Attorney General Eric Holder said the Justice Department will no longer raid medical marijuana dispensaries in states where they are legal under state law. The announcement marks the fulfillment of a President Obama campaign promise, and it marks the end of 13 years of stubborn federal resistance to state medical marijuana programs.

DEA raids of medical marijuana facilities in California continued after Obama’s election in November and even after his inauguration last month. Holder was asked if those raids represented Justice Department policy under the new administration.

“Shortly after the inauguration there were raids on California medical marijuana dispensaries. Do you expect these to continue?” the reporter asked, noting that the president had promised to end the raids in the campaign.

“No,” Holder responded. “What the president said during the campaign, you’ll be surprised to know, will be consistent with what we’ll be doing in law enforcement. He was my boss during the campaign. He is formally and technically and by law my boss now. What he said during the campaign is now American policy.”

Praise Buddha! The reason this is grand news here in Bakersfield is that all our dispensaries were raided so they all have been closed for over a year, do to fear of another DEA raid, which btw all raids were sanctioned by our redneck DA and Head Sheriff. Only one dispensary owner was charged with federal crimes, the rest just lost all their inventory and money in the bank.

Nothing like a four hour trip to pick up a prescription, ya know?

Now, watch him actually say the words.

Federal Judge rules against feds in cannabis lawsuit

In the first decision of its kind, a federal judge has ruled that California’s medical marijuana advocates may go forward with a claim that the federal government has a pattern of drug law enforcement intended to subvert California law in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel, in San Jose, Calif., said he will allow Santa Cruz County to go forward with its claim that federal authorities deliberately are seeking to frustrate the state’s ability to determine whether an individual’s use of marijuana is permitted medical use, or illegal recreational use.

Medical marijuana advocates contend the federal government has engaged in a calculated campaign to force states to repeal medical marijuana use laws, in violation of the 10th Amendment, which reserves states’ powers.

What? States rights? They trump the DEA bullshit? Seriously Judge Fogel? Are you daft man? The Supreme’s ruled that the Feds have the right to enforce their fuckwittery on all states.

But the Court’s Gonzales v. Raich ruling left individual state laws untouched.

Santa Cruz passed an ordinance that creates a government office responsible for providing medical marijuana directly to patients, in part to test the reach of the Raich decision.

The lawsuit, County of Santa Cruz v. Gonzales, C03-1802JF, by Santa Cruz County against the U.S. attorney general alleges the federal government has targeted enforcement to make it impossible for California to implement and enforce its law and force the state to recriminalize medical marijuana use.

We ain’t taking this shit we are not gents. Our state voted on this you bastards…and the voters said medicinal use of cannabis is a-ok. Alcohol, which will kill you if taken to extremes, is fine with the feds…but cannabis…nope. Those bastards have held nature’s medicinal hostage for 50 years.

Check out the rest of the writeup here.

The DEA’s newest tactic: Threaten the landlords.

I Buddha is my witness..these bastards have better things to do with our money and their time. And this really jacks my friggin jaw:

U.S. Attorney Joseph Russoniello said he thought most people who claimed to be patients did not need marijuana.

What kind of horseshit line is that? Got any facts to back that crap up pal?

I didn’t think so..yet you spew that bullshit as an excuse to deny everyone the ability to use cannabis as a medical treatment that works far better than many of the traditional medications issued by doctors that have thousands of side effects, and many of them serious and deadly. I can not believe the war on drugs has stooped this friggin low..but then..under the Republicans..I can.

Meth, crack and plenty of other illicit street drugs destroy families and lives..yet these fuckwits spend out tax dollars harassing state-sanctioned cannabis dispensaries and now scaring the shit out of landlords. Fuckwittery anyone?
