Once again my favorite constitutional law Professor at GW University, Jonathan Turley, talks about the Kucinich impeachment article and Bush’s most recent claim of Executive Privilege to keep Mukasey from complying with a House subpoena on the PlameGate investigation.
It starts bright and early here on the left coast..7am. CSPAN will be covering it live both on tv and their online site.
Look, I don’t have much faith that he will give up any real juicy tidbits, but one can hope for such bounties and watching it will at least provide a break from the election bullshit that all the 24 hour news stations are giving us at this point.
Dipshit will be appearing in front of the House Judiciary committee, which is chaired by John Conyers. They also will most likely provide streaming video.
You can’t bitch about it if you don’t watch it! That’s my story and I am sticking to it. ;p
Graphic by the multi-talented Dark Black.
President Bush’s former spokesman, Scott McClellan, will testify before a House committee next week about whether Vice President Dick Cheney ordered him to make misleading public statements about the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame’s identity. McClellan will testify publicly and under oath before the House Judiciary Committee on June 20 about the White House’s role in the leak and its response, his attorneys, Michael and Jane Tigar, said on Monday. (emphasis mine)
If he could hang the Big Dick Cheney out to dry on this issue alone..I might even applaud ol Scotty. Seriously…
Scotty in clownface via the multi-talented Dark Black.
Former CIA operative Valerie Plame is trying to resurrect a lawsuit against those in the Bush administration she says illegally disclosed her identity.
A federal judge dismissed Plame’s lawsuit last year, saying there was no basis to bring a case. Plame’s lawyers asked a federal appeals court Friday to send the case back before the judge and force him to consider its merits.
Plame and her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, sued Vice President Dick Cheney; his former chief of staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby; former White House political adviser Karl Rove and former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage.
Plame’s CIA position was revealed in a syndicated newspaper column in 2003, during a time when her husband was criticizing the march to war in Iraq. Armitage and Rove were the original sources for that story, which Plame believes was retribution for Wilson’s criticism.
The article touched off a lengthy criminal investigation. Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald never charged anyone with the leak but convicted Libby of obstruction and lying to investigators.
During the trial, it was revealed that Libby and former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer also discussed Plame with reporters.
Plame says those leaks violated her constitutional rights. But U.S. District Judge John D. Bates dismissed the case, saying the law requires Plame’s complaints be raised under the Privacy Act. Plame’s attorneys say that law is insufficient. They asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to send the case back to Bates for reconsideration.
Finally the sumbitch pays some dues for his ‘indiscretion’. From the FindLaw writeup:
The disbarment order from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia was issued Thursday. The appeals court said that when a lawyer “is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory.”
I wonder if ol’ Scooter was actually going to practice law? I doubt it..somehow I see him becoming a lobbyist or on the board of a big corporation ala John Ashcroft and the big Dick Cheney.
The NYT has a writeup here..the ruling is here (pdf). WaPo gives us their take on it here and MSNBC tells us all about it here. The NYT writeup states Scooter didn’t expect to keep his license any how..so I could still be right about his next career move…
